The Redwood Forest is pure majestic beauty. Redwood trees provide a thick canopy that blocks all but the strongest sun rays from reaching the forest floor. The Redwood forest is a natural cathedral; full of mystery and awesome beauty.
The redwood forest was home to the dinosaurs and other pre-historic critters. Squint your eyes a bit and let you imagination go -- can you see a dinosaur in this redwood forest clearing? Perhaps he toppled that tree! A stroll through the redwood forest is a lesson in humility. You immediately feel small and less important than you did out in the work-a-day world. A walk in this forest is a quick "ego correction". You know your place in the universe better after a walk in the redwood forest. This is it ... the perfect place in the redwood forest for a wedding!

- Mendocino's Redwood Forests
The dramatic, tall trees of the northern California coastal region attracted commercial attention in the 1800s. Decades of logging in the 19th and 20th Centuries depleted Mendocino County's forests. More recent decades have seen the preservation of most remaining "old growth" stands, as well as the maturation of "second growth" forests. The Redwood forest remains an abiding feature and resource of Mendocino County.
Redwood National and States Parks
An amazing diversity of life exists at Redwood National and State Parks (RNSP). The ancient coast redwood ecosystem preserved in the parks contains some of the planet's most majestic forests. Here, banana slugs, gray whales, Douglas-fir, black bears, and sea anemones are equally at home with redwoods.
